The Theory of Executive Function and Process

Abstract

The theory of executive function and process is closely related to the conditions of a formal organization establishment and survival. This chapter first explores the nature of executive function and process. Executive function and process make a synthetic approach to a cooperative system rather than an analytical approach. The chapter then points out that the core executive functions are to provide the system of communication, to promote essential effort, and to formulate a purpose; therefore, the chapter explains these three executive functions one by one. The chapter then argues that executive processes relate to effectiveness and efficiency, and that they pursue how a cooperative system can function as a whole. It explains that coordination plays an important role in increasing effectiveness, while organization economy plays a crucial role in increasing efficiency.
