Abstract

This chapter explores the role of project management in driving sustainability transformation within banks. It highlights how Project Management Offices (PMOs), cross-functional teams, and change champions serve as catalysts for embedding sustainability into everyday workflows. Drawing on the experiences of the four case banks and insights from interviews, the chapter emphasizes how sustainability projects enable integration across silos, accelerate innovation, and provide a testbed for cultural change. Analyzing workflow patterns and leadership practices reveals how effective project governance and strategic alignment can help operationalize sustainability visions.
