Abstract

The growing pressures and opportunities driven by the sustainability makes relevant the interplay between environmental impact, social welfare and eco-innovation development for both scholars and practitioners. However, in view of current environmental challenges, there is a general awareness that new strategic approaches are needed to achieve (better) sustainable positions of competitive advantage. Our aim is to provide a comprehensive framework to support the integration of environmental dimension into the strategic management and the value creation process. In order to reach our aim, we have articulated the book in three chapters analysing the role and scope of “environmental dimension”: in the strategic formula, that is the description and conceptualization of corporate and business strategies; in the strategic management process, that is the formulation and implementation process of corporate environmental strategies; in the performance measurement and control system, that is the analysis and the assessment of environmental results and their impact on competitive and financial performance.
