Abstract

This study aims to clarify an effective approach to disseminating information that guides individuals to manage their consumption during emergencies. As an example of this, we focus on out-of-home leisure activities during the COVID-19 pandemic, known for its negative effects caused by potential infection transmission. We empirically identify information sources that effectively prompt individuals to reduce consumption with high risks, specifically out-of-home activities, and explore aspects of consumption behavior amenable to transformation via external information.
