Abstract

This introductory chapter presents the motivations that have driven the authors to write the book. It highlights the importance of the objective of bringing together our current understandings and research around talent. It also contextualises the need for the book in relation to the contemporary developments that have followed the Covid-19 global pandemic. This has made visible structural issues and inequalities in relation to how talent is often undervalued in our societies. The limitations and geographical focus of the book are addressed. The chapter also offers an outline of the book chapters and the structure of the contribution.
