Abstract

In the course of this analysis, my goal will be to show that the debt relation, as a relational form of contract, deals with polycontexturality and, in the process, introduces external reference, which, through self-reference, is subsequently returned to money in the form of interest. However, by doing so, the institution of money reveals its own instability as a measure of value, and can only serve as one if the shared value created by a given process exactly matches the discounting of the interest.
