Abstract

“Information technology and business are becoming inextricably interwoven. I don’t think anybody can talk meaningfully about one without the talking about the other.” (Gates 1999: 6). In a consequence, enterprise systems can be both, vulture and value for organizations depending on how their evolution is managed and executed in a post-implementation phase. Performance of process-centric software is highly discussed but has remained little understood. Despite the fact that large and small companies around the globe increasingly depend on sophisticated and reliable enterprise resource planning or customer relationship management systems, the process of how such systems generate value for organizations remained a “black box”.
