Abstract

This chapter explores the cybersecurity challenges in smart construction, where IoT, BIM, and Common Data Environments (CDE) converge to transform how buildings are designed, built, and managed. In collaboration with the Innovation Value Institute at Maynooth University, Ireland, it examines vulnerabilities, regulatory gaps, and risks across the digital construction lifecycle. The chapter emphasizes that cybersecurity must evolve alongside digital innovation, proposing a risk management framework that integrates protection, monitoring, and continuous improvement. Ultimately, it highlights that cybersecurity is foundational to ensuring resilience, trust, and sustainability in the future of digital construction.
