Abstract

It does no good to consider theoretical options for growth if your organization isn’t yet ready to grow. In order to determine if, and if so, to what extent, your company is ready, we need to first do a bit of location work: In which phase of growth are you? Is your company growing (more or less quickly), are you facing negative growth, or is your company stagnating? The answer leads to different strategies when it comes to the point if your company (or a business unit) is ready for growth. In Chap. 2 you will learn how the different phases of growth have an impact on your company’s or your market segment strategy and why fast and streamlined processes are not sufficient for growth. You will get to know seven indicators that help you determine whether work groups in your firm tend to think in a growth-oriented way, or their mentality is more traditional and conservative and you will read about several options to getting growth sponsors aboard.
