Abstract

We explained in the previous chapter that software development processes face a specific challenge. They have to bridge the gap between creativity and empowerment on the one hand and required governance on the other hand. Governance is required to effectively align development with strategic guidance and other business objectives. We introduce a new concept – control self-assessment (CSA) – that can help in this regard. CSA is a well-known concept from auditing. We have adapted it to the specifics of software development.
