Schedule Adherence

Abstract

Measuring schedule adherence is a relatively unexplored concept in Earned Value Management and has been proposed as an extension to the Earned Schedule methodology described in the previous chapter. The purpose of schedule adherence is to connect the logic of the baseline schedule with the dynamics of project progress. It is formalised in the so-called p-factor approach and measures the portion of the Earned Value (EV) accrued in congruence with the baseline schedule. The approach is used to adapt the current EV to an effective earned value (EV(e)) taking the risk of rework into account.
