Abstract

This chapter examines the development of real estate investment trusts (REITs) in Türkiye, along with the relevant legal regulations and market conditions. Furthermore, it delineates the advantages and disadvantages associated with these real estate-based securities within secondary markets, underscoring their significance to the Turkish economy. The chapter offers comprehensive insights into the establishment, operations, and activities of REITs. It evaluates their economic contributions, encompassing the total number of REITs, their market values, and asset sizes. The objective of this study is to furnish a snapshot of the current situation for readers who aspire to gain a deeper understanding of the real estate markets in Türkiye. A compilation of relevant legislation and literature was executed, succeeded by the utilisation of secondary data published by both public and private institutions in the study.
