Abstract

In professional sports, data are considered a decisive lever for sustainable success. The ability not only to collect data but also to use it systematically and strategically is increasingly becoming a competitive factor for sports organizations. As a first component of the Sports Data Management Framework, we introduce the Sports Data Strategy Framework. It offers a structured orientation and supports organizations in understanding data management not as an individual technological issue, but as an integrated management task. The purpose of the framework is to provide organizations with professional structures with a solid foundation to reflect on the relevant issues surrounding the use of data according to their sporting and economic objectives. It provides clarity on how data-related decisions can be prepared and managed so that operational measures in training, medicine, fan loyalty, or sponsorship can be effectively implemented.
