Sustainable Practices for Long-Term Business Efficiency: The Permaenterprise as a Strong Sustainable Model in the Age of the Anthropocene

Abstract

As climate urgency and resource scarcity intensify, businesses must rethink their operational models to balance economic performance with sustainability. The permaenterprise model, inspired by permaculture—a design system that mimics natural ecosystems to create sustainable and regenerative practices—proposes an integrated approach that combines economic, social, and environmental goals. Its three core principles—caring for people, caring for the planet, and fairly sharing resources—emphasize maximizing efficiency, minimizing ecological impact, and promoting equitable benefit distribution. Grounded in strong sustainability, the model proposes preserving natural resources as irreplaceable. By adopting regenerative and ethical practices, the permaenterprise model offers a resilient framework for addressing the challenges raised by the Anthropocene and enhancing long-term business performance.
