Abstract

In the field of IT governance and IT management, several standards and frameworks have been developed to help organizations align their IT strategies with business objectives, ensure compliance, manage risks, and improve service delivery. This chapter commences by discussing Control Objectives for Information and Related Technology (COBIT) as an umbrella framework for enterprise governance of IT. Given its status as an umbrella framework and its focus on IT governance, COBIT plays a central role in this chapter. Nevertheless, at the end of this chapter other popular and relevant standards and frameworks are introduced and discussed. Specifically, we will discuss ISO/IEC 38500, ITIL, ISO/IEC 20000, and SAFe. This chapter should give practitioners a good reference guide to navigate the landscape of IT governance and IT management standards and frameworks.
