Control Efficiency

Abstract

This chapter provides a general definition of project control efficiency. It is used to express that project managers should strive to minimise the effort spent on controlling the project while getting maximum results from their actions to get their projects in trouble back on track. Readers will be introduced to three types of project managers (the control freak, the lazy manager, and you), and it will be shown that the excellent manager is the one who strikes the best balance between minimum effort and maximum results. Empirical project data results will illustrate this efficiency concept’s relevance and importance.
