Abstract

German industries are globally known for their product quality which gives them not just the edge on the global market but the ability to withstand increasing global competition on product quality and production costs. As a result of high labor costs in Europe and other developed countries, their companies began relocating production facilities to aspiring countries, as suggested by Brettel et al. [18]. In this way, productivity and quality gaps were closed. To be abreast of competition, German manufacturing companies focused attention on the following:
