Abstract

In this chapter, Agota shares her personal learning journey to diversity management and the various formal and non-formal learning experiences that widened her horizons in this area. In her opinion and because the measurement of personal development is often vague, it is important to rely on personal stories that outline the various influences on a person that contributed to their becoming more empowered to be change makers in this field. In her case, one of the British Council’s programmes (Intercultural Navigators) was a very important point, which was later supplemented by her work within the organisation as a diversity lead. As a diversity lead, she has had to understand the organisation’s diversity strategy and framework, and this enabled her to think about mainstreaming. All these experiences contributed to who she has become and how she works now, on the individual, team and organisational levels, with diversity and inclusion.
