Abstract

Technology-driven change continuously reshapes work environments, organisational structures, and managerial practices through digital transformation processes. This process, although technology-centric, fundamentally integrates social and organisational dynamics, creating unpredictable and emergent transformation paths influenced by human interactions, institutional contexts, and the technologies themselves. Consequently, traditional organisational structures are evolving into more fluid, agile, and platform-based arrangements. Effectively navigating the digital transformation process poses significant challenges, as the world of tomorrow will not just be the world of yesterday, but increasingly digitalised. This introductory chapter sets the framework for the content of this book, in which a set of research papers explores how digital technologies influence new work arrangements, organisational readiness, and human-technology interactions.
