Abstract

Planning and controlling daily deliveries to the same customers involves numerous difficulties. One of the major recurring problems is inaccurate or incorrect relevant data. Using appropriate strategies still made it possible to successfully implement delivery planning solutions. By introducing an adequate and workable measurement system it is now feasible to collect more exact data about the delivery time at each customer to improve the results. With the help of this data we can validate the actual vehicle routing approach precisely for the first time. Finally the first realised planning project based on that data gave evidence that it is possible to increase the quality of planning and to realise higher savings.
