Abstract

This chapter provides a short introduction to bargaining problems and the basic approaches to solve them. It draws mainly on the thorough and at the same time concise introductions to bargaining theory that are given by Napel (2002, chap. 1) and Osborne and Rubinstein (1990). Here, only a very basic summary is given, which cannot replace the study of more elaborate works as the aforementioned books. See also Binmore et al. (1986) for another good introduction on this topic.
