Abstract

Supported by behavioral and neuroscience tools, several experiments have been conducted to investigate the FITradeoff method and its Decision Support System (DSS). Based on these studies, several transformations have been made in this method. One of these is related to the Success-Based Decision Rule (SBDR). This rule is a feature that can be used by Decision Makers (DMs) and Analysts to support the decision process. This chapter aims to discuss the SBDR, illustrating its application in holistic evaluations of alternatives. For instance, given a particular holistic evaluation, the analyst can advise the DM to use a certain type of visualization. Hence, the SBDR aims to assist the advising process by providing direct recommendations to improve a DM’s experience. The SBDR is included in the FITradeoff DSS, which reinforces the notion that behavioral studies present an important role with regard to making improvements to MCDM/A methods, thus bringing innovation to this area.
