Abstract

Supply Chains across the world are facing an increasing number of disruptions due to man-made as well as natural causes. Adding to this complexity is the global nature of supply chains with ever-changing consumer demands. Such complex supply chains require digital solutions with the ability to track, visualize, forecast, and act in an agile, efficient, and effective manner. Supply chain digital twins provide a comprehensive solution for managing these risks and developing resilient supply chains. In this chapter, we use a combination of primary and secondary data to understand how these digital twins build supply chain resilience with the help of other technologies. We also understand the capabilities that digital twins extend to supply chains to make them reliable, responsive, agile, and, in turn, resilient. We provide a suitable architecture for a supply chain digital twin combining different technology assets of an organization. Our data also highlights the importance of people, processes, and technology in making Supply Chain Digital Twins successful.
