Abstract

The contemporary supply chain is navigating a significant digital shift, driving organizations to enhance systemic resilience, operational efficiency, and overall performance. This chapter explores how the emerging technologies such as Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, the Internet of Things, Cloud Computing, Advanced Analytics, and Digital Twins act as powerful catalysts in this essential transformation. Drawing on in-depth case studies of global leaders such as Heineken, Pfizer, Amazon, Procter & Gamble, and Unilever, it evaluates the strategic application and measurable impacts of these innovations on core supply chain objectives, comparatively assessing their Digital Transformation maturity using a novel Digital Transformation Scale. The analysis synthesizes key insights into practical principles for the effective integrated implementation of digital solutions. It comprehensively examines challenges, risks, and the critical importance of holistic transformation, evolving towards sophisticated “nerve center” capabilities, and emphasizes the human element in change management. This chapter guides organizations in leveraging these technologies to build intelligent, agile, and future-ready supply chains capable of succeeding amidst increasing complexity.
