Abstract

Globalization created complex supply chain networks that rely heavily on superior performance and efficient operational systems. Global supply chains require integrated information flow across boundaries for the smooth movement of goods and services. The risks in SCM are due to vulnerabilities and uncertainties at the operational levels in the global supply chain, posing a challenge to the rapidly evolving logistics industry. This chapter focuses on the existing literature on supply chain risk management to identify strategies to minimize these risks due to the competitive business environment by implementing risk mitigation, identification, and assessment in the supply chain networks. The main contribution of this chapter is the discussion on the existing literature on risks associated with supply chain integration and perceptions toward different types of supply chain risks.
