Abstract

The previous chapter delineated the effects of corporate governance monitoring devices on the efficiency of long-term investment decisions. The current chapter adds to the former empirical framework by focusing on the ramifications of corporate governance on short-term investment decisions that concern the quantum of cash reserves. Cash holdings assist in satisfying operational and investment requirements and extend a liquidity buffer for meeting unexpected contingencies.
