Abstract

The present chapter is an attempt to understand the long-term dynamism of development in relation to peace and security in South Asia. This is organized into five sections. Section 1 introduces the theme and Sect. 2 relates the process of economic development with peace and security. Section 3 attempts at the historical experience of this region over the long period of colonial domination. Section 4 makes an attempt to analyse the post-colonial experience of peace and development among South Asia Association of Regional Cooperation (SAARC) countries. The last section provides a summary and attempts at the framework for peace, security and development in this region.
