Supply Chain Scheduling Under Quick Response

Abstract

Quick Response has become one of the most important requirements in a well-designed and operated supply chain system. This chapter focuses on the scheduling problem within supply chain environment regarding Quick Response to customer orders as the ultimate objective. We introduce some recent and important research developments, including the customer order scheduling problems on either parallel machines or dedicated machines, the scheduling problems with outsourcing consideration, and the conflict and coordination of scheduling decisions among different supply chain members. For each problem, the scheduling model is presented and the main results are elucidated. Finally, the further research directions are also pointed out.
