Abstract

The Gambia | Adama Bah has over 40 years of experience working in the tourism industry in The Gambia and other West African countries. He has spent more than 25 years in operational roles in The Gambia’s hotel industry and later as Deputy General Manager responsible for operations and human resources. From 2006 to 2013, Adama became The Gambian coordinator for The Travel Foundation, UK. An associate member of the International Centre for Responsible Tourism and a speaker at destination conferences organised in different countries: India, Brazil, Canada, UK, South Africa, Spain, Belize, etc. In November 2004, he won the international award for The Greatest Contribution to Responsible Tourism at the Responsible Tourism Award Ceremony at World Travel Market in London. In July 2019, Leeds Beckett University awarded him an Honorary Doctorate for dedicating much of his life to responsible tourism, both in The Gambia and internationally.
