Abstract

Digitalisation is evolving in every aspect of medicine. The use of teledermatology was boosted enormously during the COVID-19 pandemic. Quarantines and sometimes even the closure of doctor’s offices made it impossible for some people to get dermatological care. However, during the pandemic, the scepticism about teledermatology declined. It is a welcome and handy tool that extends the provision of medical care. It does not replace traditional dermatology completely, but since both modes of care have benefits and flaws, they can coexist and complement each other. This chapter discusses the opportunities and pitfalls of teledermatology and gives a sneak peek at future possibilities.
