Ecology: Can Management Education Help to Stop Climate Change?

Abstract

Based on the premise that human-centrism shapes the relation between the human species and natural environment, the philosophy of a “turn to the subject” is briefly explained with reference to philosophers Descartes, Kant, and Feuerbach. This human-centrism is then illustrated by three practical examples after which a rethinking of human subjectivity is proposed. The requirements driving global governance for the common good are set out with reference to Ostrom’s key ideas. The chapter ends with guidelines of how management education can in practice contribute to a change in thinking and action for the sake of mitigating climate change.
