Abstract

The chapter presents an overview of monetary policy worldwide across the business cycles and pivotal moments in the economic history of the past three decades. The aim of the chapter is to provide the readers with a comprehensive and coherent overview of the operation of central banks, and how the monetary policy tools (conventional and unconventional) have evolved in the face of different economic conditions.
