Abstract

Joseph A. Schumpeter, in his virtually forgotten essay “The Sociology of Imperialisms”, presents his approach to the imperialismus debate starting at the beginning of the 20th century. In his paper Schumpeter, absolves the capitalism from any connection with imperialism and provides considerable sociological and political aspects worth to be discussed. The article shows that Schumpeter’s “The Sociology of Imperialisms” plays a relatively modest role in academe and underlined that this modest role contrasts with the unquestionably important position accorded to it among his works by the author himself.
