Abstract

This chapter is concerned with reduced-form indices that summarize polarization in terms of the between-group and within-group of components of a subgroup decomposable inequality index. The between-group factor represents alienation and the within-group factor is inversely related to identification. A polarization ordering involving these two components of a subgroup decomposable inequality index is also deliberated.
