Abstract

Summarising major findings on the theory of entrepreneurs and entrepreneurship in rule-based economics, on empirical methodology and on the study of entrepreneurship in Japan between 1992 and 2012, we sketch an agenda for future research. Starting from the empirical case, two theoretically derived forms of entrepreneurship, namely, “time-lagged opportunity entrepreneurship” and “necessity-induced opportunity entrepreneurship”, may be explored in future inquiries. Similarly, the effect of demographic change on latent and actual entrepreneurship encourages empirical tests for other economies.
