Abstract

Melles & Stein Messe-Service GmbH turned the crisis of the COVID-19 pandemic into an opportunity for reinvention, emerging as a leader in sustainable trade fair services. With a vision to reshape an industry not traditionally associated with sustainability, the company redefined its internal practices and service offerings—from CO2-optimized logistics to circular food systems and inclusive staffing models. By making sustainability visible, measurable, and client-centered, Melles & Stein not only strengthened existing partnerships but also attracted new clients seeking responsible event solutions. This chapter illustrates how a clear commitment to environmental and social values, combined with continuous innovation and stakeholder engagement, can transform a traditional service provider into a pioneer of sustainable change. Melles & Stein’s journey offers a blueprint for companies aiming to align business success with ecological and social responsibility.
