Abstract

This chapter documents the main findings from the comparative cross-case analysis that was carried out over a 4-month period in two financial intelligence units (FIUs) that are based in the EU. Section 3.1 provides a brief overview of the research methodology; Sect. 3.2 summarises the suspicious activity reports (SARs) receipt and analysis process. Sections 3.3–3.6 document the findings pertaining to the SARs regime, the RBA, financial institutions’ risk appetites and the de-risking/re-risking phenomenon. Finally, Table 3.2 summarises all 28 findings, which will subsequently be analysed and discussed in the discussion chapter that follows.
