Brazilian Contemporary Challenges

Abstract

Political divisions in Brazil have been a key characteristic throughout its history, evolving from the Vargas era to the present day. The legacy of Getúlio Vargas, who served roles as both a dictator and a democratically elected president, continues to influence political discourse and identity within Brazil. Vargas’ populist policies and authoritarian tendencies established a foundation for a deeply polarized political landscape, characterized by ideological differences and power struggles. The military dictatorship that ensued only served to heighten these divisions, resulting in widespread repression and resistance. Political divisions in Brazil from the Vargas era to current times are discussed in the following item. The subsequent item presents Brazilian tragedies, highlighting the recent natural disaster in Rio Grande do Sul. Other two items gives an overview of the Health System and the mismanagement of the Covid-19 pandemic as well as some explanations about the high Brazilian costs. The coming two items discuss the land reform in the world and in Brasil and the labor informality in the country. The last item briefly consider the Brazilian social movements.
