In: Interventions to Reduce Logistic Costs for Trade Competitiveness and Poverty

Abstract

While in recent years, many countries have realized the relevance of the issue and have taken some measures to improve it, there is still lagging behind in securing desired well-functioning logistic framework. To date, logistic costs in emerging countries range from 18 to 35% of product value and even higher for SMEs (about 45%), when benchmarks are around 10% of the product value in OECD countries. Yet there is hope. A platform of interventions, scaled by available financial constraints can and has been implemented with significant positive results.
