Abstract

This study explores how student religiosity effects self-efficacy and motivation to become entrepreneurs. The sample is 510 students in three Indonesia districts, namely, Sulawesi Selatan, Yogyakarta, dan Kalimantan Barat. Structural equation modelling was used to confirm research hypotheses. The result of study show that religiosity has a positive effect on self-efficacy. As mediator variable, self-efficacy has positive and significant effect to students’ motivation to become an entrepreneurship and also mediating the relationship between religiosity and motivation directly and indirectly. Education stakeholders as well as parents need to improve students’ spirituality towards enhancing the quality of prayer and religion activities. They also need to develop programs that correlate with enlightening and empowering. This study contributes to social cognitive and social identity theory through the scarce literature on religion, students’ attitude, and recognition of entrepreneurship education.
