Abstract

This study examines work-life balance (WLB), defined as an individual’s ability to manage harmoniously their work and personal life, among 324 Indonesian women workers. Using a quantitative cross-sectional design and a standardized WLB scale, Findings reveal a significant WLB deficit, with a mean score (42.42) substantially below the benchmark. Critically, 43% of respondents reported low WLB, with challenges intensifying for married women and mothers. These results underscore the inadequacy of gender-blind HR practices. While limited by its non-probabilistic sample and cross-sectional design, this study provides a critical foundation for advocating Gender-Responsive Human Resource Management strategies to systematically support women’s well-being and career continuity in Indonesia.
