Abstract

This study examines the No. 2 Tunnel of Paoma Mountain as a representative case and thoroughly analyzes the characteristics and emergency responses to water inrush and water outburst in tunnel engineering. Through comprehensive field investigations and rigorous data analysis at the tunnel engineering site, this study elucidates the mechanisms, characteristics, and impacts of water inrush and outburst in No. 2 Tunnel of Paoma Mountain. The paper outlines several preventive and emergency response strategies implemented in the tunnel project, encompassing initial geological assessments, pre-grouting fortification, expedited drainage systems, and contingency reaction protocols. Research indicates that these techniques can significantly mitigate safety risks and financial losses associated with groundwater inrush, hence facilitating the uninterrupted advancement of tunnel construction. The research findings of this work offer significant insights and references for analogous geological circumstances in tunnel engineering, as well as a theoretical foundation and practical assistance for the prevention and emergency management of tunnel water inrush.
