Abstract

Facing increasing environmental pressures, the transition toward sustainable and resilient economic models has become more pressing. This study examines the contribution of green innovations and social entrepreneurship to ecological transition and sustainable territorial development in Morocco, focusing on waste management cooperatives in the Marrakech-Safi region. Using a quantitative approach, data from 15 cooperatives were analyzed to assess the impact of recycling and waste recovery initiatives on environmental performance, alongside the role of participatory governance and job creation in improving socio-economic outcomes. The results reveal a significant positive relationship between recycling efforts and waste reduction, while employment generation through social entrepreneurship contributes meaningfully to economic sustainability. These findings highlight the need for public policy support and targeted financial mechanisms to foster cooperative-driven green initiatives. Strengthening governance structures and embedding resilience strategies into cooperative operations are also identified as crucial steps to ensure lasting sustainable development.
