Abstract

Today, generational diversity has a major influence in the workplace. People from different age group are working under the same organization. It has many opportunities as well as threats. This paper intends to study the influence of generational diversity in the workplace. A model has been created to know the factors influences the generational diversity in the workplace. The key factors identified includes communication, team work and collaboration, technology requirement and work-life priorities. The reliability and validity conditions are also verified. It satisfied all the conditions. The results of EFA shows that the proposed model gives a KMO value of 0.868, the total variance explained was 77.827 for the four factors. The composite reliability of the factors ranges from 0.931 to 0.957. There is no cross loading, the value of AVE is also above the threshold limit of 0.5. Hence, the discriminant and convergent validity of the proposed model was also fulfilled. The model fit indices include CMIN/DF-1.348, CFI-0.969, TLI rho2-0.965, RMSEA-0.052, P CLOSE-0.399. The model indices are perfectly fit and can be used. The data was analyzed using Kruskal Wallis H test, because the dataset does not follow normal distribution. The results shows that there was no significant relationship between the factors affecting generational diversity and the gender as well as age of the respondents. But the type of organization where the respondents are working had a significant relationship or influence with the factors such as technology requirement and work life priorities.
