Abstract

Plastic pollution is a global issue caused by human activity and poor management from production to disposal. In Malaysia, many activities have been done to reduce plastic usage. Unfortunately, there is limited application regarding this plastic pollution awareness, and fewer games were designed to encourage creative problem-solving and idea generation. To resolve this issue, this project presents a serious game application that might be used to test students’ comprehension, increase awareness of plastic pollution, and encourage environmental stewardship through a fun learning process. Participants’ knowledge, attitude, and practice levels regarding plastic pollution are assessed using the Knowledge, Attitude, Practice (KAP) scoring with an 80% cut point. Findings revealed that males aged 10 to 12 showed better knowledge, attitudes, and practices, while females aged 7 to 9 had the highest percentage of “good knowledge” respondents. To conclude, the game serves as an effective platform for players to acquire knowledge and develop awareness about plastic pollution. Players are more likely to receive ample knowledge and raise awareness through engaging in the game.
