Supervision of the Manpower and Transmigration Department in the Implementation of Minimum Wages in Makassar City

Abstract

This study aims to find out the results of the supervision carried out by the Manpower supervisor related to the City Minimum Wage (UMK) in Makassar City. The number of informants in this study is 2 (two) people. The type of qualitative descriptive research uses data collection techniques, interviews, observations, documentation and literature studies. The results of the study show that labor supervision, which is overseen by the South Sulawesi Provincial Manpower and Transmigration Office, is still not optimal. Labor supervision regarding the implementation of the city’s minimum wage, especially in Makassar City, aims to provide legal protection for all workers. By using supervisory indicators, namely first, determining standards in accordance with the Governor’s Certificate regarding the implementation of the City Minimum Wage which can change every year, second, measuring appearance is a process that is carried out repeatedly related to the implementation of the minimum wage and improving the supervision process, thirdly analyzing the results that have been achieved in a target to see deviations that occur in the process of implementing supervision, Fourth, take actions against problems that occur during the supervision process if the company does not follow the provisions in accordance with applicable regulations. In addition, to provide education to entrepreneurs or workers so that they are always orderly in implementing the applicable laws and regulations, especially in the field of employment, so that a strong economic stability is created.
