Abstract

This study aims to analyze the impacts and challenges of blue and green economy policies in supporting business sustainability in Makassar City, with a focus on marine resource management. The blue economy concept has brought significant changes in marine resource governance in Makassar City, especially in the fisheries, marine tourism, and marine conservation sectors. In addition, the blue economy which focuses on sustainable use of marine resources, plays and important role in improving the welfare of coastal communities. On the other hand, the green economy encourages environmentally friendly practices in the agriculture, energy and transportation sectors. In the context of Makassar, which has great potential in the fields of fisheries and tourism, synergy between these two economies can create new jobs, reduce pollution and preserve the ecosystem. Through in-depth interviews with stakeholders, this study explores the implementation of this concept in Makassar and its impacts and benefits for local communities. The findings show that despite progress, challenges such as overfishing and coral reef management still need to be addressed.
