Abstract

Indonesia, as an agrarian country, has great potential in the agricultural sector, including chocolate commodities that contribute significantly to the local and national economy. In Marioriwawo Sub-district, Soppeng Regency, chocolate businesses based on Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) have become one of the main sources of livelihood for the local community. However, challenges such as suboptimal business management, limited access to financing, and inadequate chocolate processing technology still hamper productivity and competitiveness. This study aims to analyze the development strategy of MSME-based chocolate businesses in Marioriwawo sub-district using a mixed-method approach. Qualitative data were obtained from in-depth interviews with stakeholders. The results showed that there is great potential in chocolate business development, but interventions are needed in the form of technology improvement, better access to financing, and government policies that support business sustainability. The findings are expected to provide recommendations for more effective and sustainable development of the chocolate sector in Soppeng Regency so that it can support an inclusive economy.
