Digital Transformation in China: BYD as a Case Study for Technological and Strategic Evolution

Abstract

For companies trying to improve operational efficiency, competitiveness, and sustainability in an increasingly digital marketplace, digital transformation has become a crucial strategy. This paper investigates the digital transformation journey of BYD, a leading Chinese electric vehicle (EV) company, in order to pinpoint important strategies and issues as well as to get understanding relevant to other Chinese companies. Using a case study method, the paper methodically investigates BYD’s progressive application of digital technology, organizational strategy, and congruence with national goals. The results underline that BYD’s success results from its strong leadership commitment, innovative culture, and methodical methodology of including technology like Internet of Things (IoT) and artificial intelligence (AI) into its activities. Efficiency, market responsiveness, and consumer involvement have all improved noticeably from these methods. The study suggests focused strategy for risk reduction and adaptive paths for application, therefore highlighting possible hazards in fields including data security, organizational resistance, and technological dependency. Drawing on the BYD instance, the study projects future developments in the digital transformation of Chinese businesses including intelligent automation, digital-physical integration, and acceptance of green technologies. It also underlines the crucial part industry cooperation and government policy play in fostering sustainable digitization. The report ends with practical suggestions for companies and legislators, therefore adding important insights to the changing conversation on business digital transformation in China.
