Abstract

With India aiming at 1 trillion dollar economic contribution through tourism by 2047, the Tourism sector’s potential is being highly recognized. Heritage tourism being a niche sector is a significant contributor in Indian Tourism Development with continuously growing potential. Domestic visitors significantly contribute towards enhancing the growth and development of the same. This study aims at empirically driven conclusions through an analysis of visitor satisfaction at selected World heritage sites of Delhi. Importance Performance Analysis model guides the study and the research instrument used is a survey questionnaire. Findings reveal that while areas such as “heritage preservation,” “historical accuracy,” and “safety measures” are performing well, critical aspects like “maintenance of facilities,” “eco-friendly practices,” and “accessibility for differently-abled visitors” require immediate attention. Technology integration, private sector involvement, and cultural engagement also emerged as areas for development, reflecting the priorities outlined in the Draft National Tourism Policy 2022.
